Community Support

The SRWC is thankful for the generous support we received in 2020 from all aspects of the community during a year impacted so fundamentally by the pandemic.

Local women gave time and talent…

We are an all volunteer organization of actively engaged women committed to improving our local community through philanthropy, while providing social and community enrichment to our members and our neighborhoods. Our volunteers give their time and a wide spectrum of unique talents — leadership, managerial, financial, along with many more — enabling us to serve our members and community.

  • Board of Directors and other volunteers contributed over 4,500 hours.
  • SRWC Sponsored in-person and virtual luncheons, summer and winter recreational activities, book clubs, and much more.

The community and members gave financially to support our neighbors in south Deschutes County …

We are grateful for the overall increase in the number of donors we saw contributing as well as the increase in the amount of individual donations.

  • Donors cumulatively contributed almost $68,500.
  • Of the over 200 individual donors, more than one-third contributed over $250, with a record high of $15,000 from an anonymous donor.

Business and Community groups gave their support…

A special thank-you to these businesses and community groups who generously contributed to the SRWC especially as they also experienced pandemic restrictions.

All of us together gave to support these SRWC programs…

Community support is vital for the SRWC to accomplish our philanthropy goals. Our goal is to provide a strong network of services that will improve the lives of the most vulnerable citizens in our south Deschutes County.

  • The COVID-19 Nonprofit Fund gave $36,000 in 8 awards for food assistance, child abuse prevention/children services, prescription drugs/vaccinations, and housing/utilities.
  • The Community Grant Program gave $27,000 in 8 awards to nonprofits providing services for vulnerable women, children, families and seniors, and educational opportunities for at-risk children and teens.
  • The COVID-19 Mask Project provided over 300 masks to Sunriver firefighters, police, and community members and over $2,300 mask donations were received for them and added to the COVID-19 Nonprofit Fund.
  • The Winter Wear for Kids Service project partnered with the Family Access Network of the local Bend La-Pine School District and donated over $1,400 in winter clothing for local school children.

As a result of the community support for our fundraising efforts, the SRWC has given three quarters of a million dollars to nonprofits serving south Deschutes County since 1999.
