MidSoles Hike:   METOLIUS RIVER TRAIL #2 EAST TO WEST LOOP

When: Wednesday, August 27, 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Meet at 8:00 a.m. at the SCF Church parking lot at 18139 Cottonwood Rd to carpool or meet at 9:30 a.m. at the trailhead. Bring $5 for the driver if carpooling.

Description:

This hike is 6.3 miles with 217' elevation gain. Starting at the Wizard Falls Fish hatchery, the Metolius River appears out of the ground at the Head of the Metolius River. The water is from the Cascades to the west, which soaks into porous volcanic soil and comes to the surface because of the fault that created Green Ridge to the east. This hike provides a good view of the river. The trail generally follows along the edge of the river with good views of it. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 2 hr 1 min to complete. Best hiked March thru Nov

When considering signing up for this hike, please review the specifics (e.g. distance, elevation gain, trail surface - gravel, rocky, soft sand etc.) to determine if this trail meets your fitness level.

Gear: Water, snacks, $ for going out to lunch afterwards (optional), hiking poles (optional), sturdy hiking shoes, layered clothing, personal first aid supplies, insect repellent, sunscreen.
