Crane Prairie road ride
When: 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 2
Info: We’ll meet at the fire station on South Century at 9 a.m. to carpool or we could meet you at 9:45 a.m. in the parking area across from the restrooms (yes, restrooms!) at Crane Prairie Resort
You’ll need a Northwest Forest pass or Golden Age pass to park at the resort. If carpooling, bring $3 for your driver.
Description: This is an advanced beginner 22-mile loop with about 700 feet of elevation gain. If you have access to Ride with GPS, you can probably find our route there. But basically, you go out from the resort, turn right on to Crane Prairie Road, and follow that with four more right turns, on to South Century, Cascade Lakes Highway, FS Road 40 and back on the Crane Prairie Road. Cascade Lakes Highway might have some traffic, but the other roads are generally low-traffic.
When considering signing up for this ride, please review the specifics (e.g. distance, elevation gain, road surface - gravel, rocky, soft sand etc.) to determine if this route meets your fitness level.
Gear: Dress in layers, wear a helmet, bring sunscreen, mosquito spray, personal first aid kit, water and a snack. Having a flashing red light on the back of your bike is important for safety. We also suggest having a rearview mirror on your helmet or bike. Recently, there have been mosquitoes waiting for cyclists in the parking lot, but hopefully, their numbers will have dropped by early July.
