Winter Fun - winter solstice hike

Winter solstice hike or snowshoe across the Deschutes River

When: Sunday, Dec. 21, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Info: On the shortest day of the year, toast the Winter Solstice  while overlooking the Deschutes  River.  Whether this is a snowshoe, hike or spike will be a last-minute decision based on the weather. Half the group will meet at  10 a.m.  at Nancy Todd's home, 3 McKenzie Lane. The other half gathers at  10 at Debbie Baker's,  6 Golden Eagle. (She is graciously letting us use her    driveway). Please carpool if you can. 

Description: The two groups will walk to  Cardinal Bridge and join together  at 10:15 to 10:30.  We'll hike across the river up to Elko Point, where we will welcome the return of the light. It's about  four miles round-trip from either house. This is an out-and-back hike.

Gear:  Wear layers, sunscreen, bring poles, a snack and water.  We'll take care of the toast.
