Project Ponderosa is a local plant nursery focused on native plant restoration, education, and community stewardship. Project Ponderosa is part of the Sunriver Nature Center and Observatory.  Each year, volunteers help grow thousands of trees that support habitat restoration and strengthen our landscape for generations to come. Located at Lake Penhollow near the Sunriver Soil and Water district, we are in the thick of spring planting and weeding. Hundreds of trees need to be potted or up-potted so that they can thrive and become tomorrow's forests.

Volunteering at the nursery takes place outdoors in all weather conditions. Please dress accordingly.

Volunteer activities include: Potting and repotting seedlings. Weeding, mulching, and general nursery care. Rebuilding nursery beds, organizing tools.

Why: Support conservation and local education, gain hands on experience, and be part of a collaborative community creating living legacies.
