Hearty Soles Hike: VISTA BUTTE TRAIL SUNSET HIKE - repeat 'Butte Challenge' hike

When: Thursday September 24, 4:00 – 8:00 pm

Meet at 4:00 p.m. at the Village Bar and Grill parking lot to carpool or meet at 4:30 p.m. at the trailhead. Bring $3 for the driver if carpooling.

NOTE: If you are meeting at the Trailhead – the trailhead listed on All Trails is closed due to logging.  We will be parking on Century Drive – turn Right onto Century Drive at the intersection and parking will be on the left.

Description:

VISTA BUTTE TRAIL. The Vista Butte hike is a short rewarding trail located along Century Drive, just  of Mount Bachelor. It's approximately 5.2 miles round-trip with around 770 ft of elevation gain. It's rated as moderate. The trail steadily climbs through a pine and fir forest, with a few short steep sections near the top. The peak rewards hikers with close-up panorama views of the surrounding mountains. Best hiked May thru Oct.

When considering signing up for this hike, please review the specifics (e.g. distance, elevation gain, trail surface - gravel, rocky, soft sand etc.) to determine if this trail meets your fitness level.

Gear:  Water, snacks, hiking poles (optional), sturdy hiking shoes, layered clothing, personal first aid supplies, insect repellent.  Also good to have headlamps and/or flashlight which shouldn't be needed but should have.
